Sunday 18th May 2025 – MGC v Cromer GC at The Australian
As we woke up early on Sunday morning the weather didn’t look very good but weather apps noted clearing rain mid morning. No rain on the way but as I drove out of the tunnel onto the other side it started pouring.
The Australian team needed to play and the course looked wet but off we went in the rain with Tom Karemacher playing 8 and leading the way with a hard fought square on the last.
Isaac Smith who played his first Interclub match played well but had a tough loss on 17 but showed some really good signs.
George Platt went down 5 &4 and we were now down 2.5 to 0.5 and we really needed some wins. That is where our two undefeated players of Andy Stevenson and Charlie Adare played some great golf both winning 3 & 2. Now we were back square at 2.5 matches.
I was playing the last, being 1 down, and birdied the 18th to have a square.
Unfortunately, we had losses at 1 and 2 with Chris Connolly and Will Yeamen and we ended up having a tough loss.
Luckily, we got to have lunch at The Australian, the standard steak and chips washed down with a glass of wine to warm up and reminisce of what could have been.
Onward and upwards, we are out at Concord this Sunday.
