Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. As we embark on the next five year journey for our club, I, on behalf of the Board, have the honour of presenting our Strategic Plan for 2023 – 2028.
First and foremost, I want to express that the Board and I consider ourselves proud custodians of Manly Golf Club with its rich history, its vibrant community and its unique place in our hearts. Our key objective as your Board is to guide Manly Golf Club through the next five years in a manner that is financially stable and sustainable, whilst enhancing the member experience and continued investment in our course and facilities.
We are exiting a holding pattern from, what would be considered a unique disruptive period in any business, the Covid19 pandemic, multiple senior management changes, significant course flooding and course closures in 2022, legal disputes surrounding 8th tee, differing membership views as generational category equity concerns were resolved and a subsequent fire to our Golf Shop department that has the most daily interactions with members.
Now we have stabilised and we look to grow and enhance.
Recent achievements:
- Completed debt repayment of the Course redevelopment borrowings
- Completed construction of a new Course Maintenance facility
- Resolved membership category inequities
- Relatively recent appointment of new leadership management team
- Control of membership numbers to meet course usage capability
- Greenside Bunker renovation programme
- Adoption and initial implementation of the Vegetation Management Plan
- Adoption of plans for Fairway bunker renovations
- Progressed with exploration for water self sufficiency for the course
As we progress to deliver on the objectives of the plan, we will act and govern with alignment to our core values and we ask members to embrace these in their interactions and input to the Club.
These core values are, that:
- We are welcoming, respectful & inclusive
- We are sustainable custodians of our assets, culture & traditions
- We encourage a strong thread of family connection
- We act socially responsible
- We each, members and staff contribute positively to the Club
The summary strategic plan that follows provides members, management and the Board with a clear outline of objectives for the ensuing 5 year period (1 Oct 23 – 30 Sep 28).
These objectives will be supported by our annual operating budgets, annual and long term capital expenditure planning.
Sincerely,
Jack Lutze
